Mature workflow plugins separate plan from execute, keep durable state, and can fail a step without losing the trail. Thin ones are a prompt template with a “run” button. Multi-agent orchestration overlaps this category; treat it as workflow with more spawn permissions, not as magic.
Common mistakes
Stacking a task board, a background runner, and a routing suite that all want to own the queue. Approving a pipeline without reading the install hook. Assuming “durable” means “safe” when there is still no approval gate before irreversible actions.
Install order and boundaries
Workflow plugins should name a stop condition and a review point. If they are only slash commands glued into a pipeline with no budget, long runs will still drift.
